EU CBRN CoE supports new Webinar on the Prosecution of Radiological and Nuclear Crimes

Webinar Prosecution Radiological and Nuclear Crimes

 

On July 18, 2024, the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) Global Training Academy, the European Union Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence Initiative (EU CBRN CoE), and the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) will host a webinar on the prosecution of radiological and nuclear crimes

The Webinar will explore the challenges involved in investigating and prosecuting these grave offenses and discuss best practice mechanisms that can aid prosecutors. It will also review resources available to assist prosecutors, including the Prosecutor's Guide to Radiological and Nuclear Crimes, funded by the European Union and developed under the coordination of UNICRI.

This event is the second in a series of two webinars developed jointly by the IAP Global Training Academy and UNICRI, with the first addressing the prosecution of chemical and biological crimes

A Prosecutor's Guide to Radiological and Nuclear Crimes

This Guide aims to provide police, prosecutors, and relevant investigative agencies with guidance to support the successful prosecution of incidents involving the deliberate acquisition, stockpiling, production, transfers, or use of radiological or nuclear agents.

Developed by UNICRI with EU CBRN CoE support, it is the second in a series of CBRN forensics guidebooks aimed to advance guidance on policies, recommendations and best practices to enforce and build up forensics capabilities in the domain.
