Project 015: Strengthening laboratory bio-safety and bio-security through development of a laboratory iso-bank system

Context

Following the assessment of the needs of and based on discussions with the countries, this project aims at strengthening national capacities for bio-security and bio-safety through the development of a laboratory iso-bank system.

Objectives

  1. Strengthening of national capacities for bio-security and bio-safety, in particular the safe and secure handling of biological agents, through the development of a laboratory iso-bank system (the database).
  2. Timely and efficient responses to the discovery of biological agents through the promotion of the database as a linking mechanism between laboratories and hospital information systems.
