The EU CBRN Centres of Excellence published its latest Newsletter, sharing the main updates and highlights from the Initiative’s eight regions. The advancement of regional and interregional cooperation in CBRN risk mitigation throughout the CoE network stands out as the underlying theme in this new release. As the issue shows, CoE Partner Countries are increasingly engaging in regional and inter-regional activities to tackle together CBRN risks, which know no borders.

Nigeria becomes new CoE Partner Country

This Volume 19 puts a spotlight on the welcoming of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as new Partner Country to the Initiative, within the North Africa and Sahel Regional Secretariat. With the new membership, the CoE network brings together 64 Partner Countries that cooperate at regional and international level to strengthen CBRN risk mitigation and to promote a global culture of safety and security.

New training advances prosecution of Chemical and Biological crimes

Readers will find in the release an in-depth feature about a recently developed series of training packages that will advance the prosecution and adjudication of Chemical and Biological crimes. These capacity building activities aim to integrate the ‘Prosecutor’s Guide to Chemical and Biological Crimes’ as part of the professional duties of prosecutors, investigators, forensics experts, law enforcement and police authorities.

Regional Secretariat for Southeast Asia celebrates 10th anniversary

The publication also covers the celebration of the 10-year anniversary of the CBRN CoE Regional Secretariat for Southeast Asia, in Philippines. The event revisited the history and milestones of the Regional Secretariat, showcased CBRN risk mitigation achievements of Partner Countries in the region, and featured a Simulation Exercise highlighting how interagency collaboration in the Philippines has strengthened the country’s capacity to respond to CBRN emergencies.

Discover the most inspiring Success Stories

Of particular relevance is the Focus pages' feature on the Success Stories that competed in this year’s EU CBRN CoE International meeting of the National Focal Points. The twenty-one inspiring success stories demonstrate the high value of an increasing cooperation between the Initiative’s Partner Countries and regions.
